Used Sedan or SUV? Try the Same Day in Both

Imagine the same weekday in each car: backing out of your space, dropping off passengers, loading groceries and driving home. A sedan and an SUV solve those jobs differently. Choose the shape that removes a real inconvenience rather than assuming taller automatically means more useful.
Try the seats before discussing cargo
Set the front seats correctly, then test rear access with the passengers who use it. A higher seat can help one person and make another climb awkwardly. Door openings, roof shape and the sill matter alongside the seat height.
Load the awkward item
Bring the stroller, crate or work bag that creates the problem in your current car. An SUV’s hatch may simplify loading, while a sedan may have enough room for everything you regularly carry. Published volume figures do not describe the shape of your luggage.
Check parking and visibility
Use a representative space during a safe, permitted test. Try the mirrors, camera and driving position. A high seating position does not remove blind areas. Think about garage height, door-opening room and whether you can comfortably judge the corners of the particular vehicle.
Compare the recurring bills
Quote insurance and replacement tires, then calculate fuel using the exact powertrains and the same mileage. SUVs and sedans vary too much for one fixed cost rule. Compare actual candidates of similar age and condition rather than a large luxury SUV with a basic compact sedan.
Keep the choice specific
If one body style clearly solves a daily access or cargo need, give that benefit a value in the budget. If both work equally well, condition and ownership cost can decide. You do not have to buy the vehicle that looks more capable of a journey you almost never make.
